Check-In and Set-Up
Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008- 4:00PM to 7:00PM
Santa Fe Community College Gym
(Bldg V)
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST CHECK-IN AT THIS TIME. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  Drop Off and Parking- Students may be dropped off in front of the SFCC Gym. Parking is free in specified areas .

Check-in and set-up - Students will need to check-in at the lobby of the SFCC gym no later than 6:30 PM.

Please allow at least one hour for check-in and set-up

Public Viewing- 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM

  Display and Safety Check - Students must comply with the state display and safety regulations.

Display must also include the following:

Abstract
-
Students must use the SSEF Abstract form. A copy is included. Teams must use the team form. The abstract must be displayed in the left hand (if you are looking at the board) corner on the board or in a non glass frame in an upright position.

Photos- Credit lines are required for photos that appear on display board. If the subject is person other than the participant, human subject forms ( Form # 4) must be completed for that subject. See #8 on Page 14 of rules and regulation booklet.


Judging Day
Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008- 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM
Santa Fe Community College Gym (Bldg V)

Please Dress in Professional Attire

  Drop- Off- Students may be dropped off outside SFCC gym . Please see map.
  Check-in - Students will need to check-in at the lobby of the SFCC gym by 8:15AM. An ID will be given to each participant and must be worn at all times.
  Judging Session IDuring the first judging session, students must stand or be seated (chairs will be provided) next to their projects for the entire judging session. Please have the following items available:
  1. Log book and folder
  2. Extra copies of your abstract and notes on what you want to tell judges.
  3. Something to read and/or your work for other classes. (You will be responsible for missed work)
  4. An umbrella in case it rains. (watch the weather)
  5. Bottled water (optional, but no other liquids or containers allowed)
  6. Professional dress is appropriate (Wear comfortable shoes. There will be a lot of standing and walking.)
  7. Please do not bring cell phones, cd players or other electronic devices.
  Lunch- Lunch will be provided. The menu will include cheese or pepperoni pizza, a drink and a cookie.
  Judging Session II- Certain students will need to have their projects judged again in the afternoon. Students who are not judged in the afternoon may still be possible winners of awards or prizes at the Awards Ceremony. Remaining students not involved in the second session will participate in a tour of the SFCC campus.
   Project Take Down- Students must break down their projects at the end of judging session II.
All projects must be removed from the project display area. No student may leave without removing their project.
  Student Check Out Procedures: Students will report back to their project area by 3:15. Parents should report with picture identification to the check-out table in the gymnasium lobby to sign out their student. Students should take their project boards home at that time.

Student Pick-up
- Please make arrangements to have your student picked up immediately following the fair. No student may leave unless a parent or designated guardian checks the student out with his or her school’s science fair coordinator. If the parent/guardian is unable to pick up his or her child after the fair, please provide a written statement
to the school science fair coordinator authorizing a designated person to pick up the student. School Board policy states that the designated person must show picture identification to the science fair coordinators.

  Photographs: Califf Photography will take pictures of the students with their projects during the fair. Pictures may be viewed and purchased on a date to be announced, through a secure website at www.califf-photo.com. The password will be “sciencefair” -note one word.

If you do not wish your student to be photographed with his/her project, please indicate this on the permission slip.




Awards Ceremony
Monday, March 3, 2008
Buchholz High School Auditorium

Ice Cream Social 6:00 PM until 6:30 PM
Awards Ceremony 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM

Please Dress in Professional Attire

  Awards Ceremony- The awards ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 PM. Awards will be given for the top three places in each category. Special awards and junior and senior grand prize awards will also be presented.
Twenty-eight individuals and two team projects from the junior and senior divisions will be named as Alachua
Region’s representatives to the State Fair in Lakeland, FL, April 16-18. Two senior individual projects will be named to participate in the INTEL International Fair in Atlanta, GA, May 11-17, 2008.
          All are welcome to attend.
Students receiving awards will be notified ahead of time.
